Jennifer has over 22 years of dance experience. She has
studied various
forms of dance including Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Modern,
Contemporary,
Hip-hop, Funk and Musical Theatre. Jennifer was a member of several national
winning dance competition teams for more than 12 years and won numerous
first place and high point awards for her solos in both dance and voice
competitions.
She received her dance training at The Preparatory Dance Program at U of L,
The Louisville Ballet, and several local dance studios in both Louisville, Ky.
and
across the river in Indiana. Jennifer was a member of the Nationally Ranked
Assumption Dance Team and The National Award Winning Planet Dance Senior
Dance Team under the direction of the coaches of the U of L Lady Birds
(Sheryl Knight & Todd Sharpe). She has had the opportunity to study and train
with some of the top local and national choreographers including Barb Cullen,
Linda Braun, Sheryl Knight, Sheila Barker, Frank Hatchett, and Dan Cooney.
Knowing that dance is always changing and evolving, Jennifer understands the
importance of staying up on the current styles. To facilitate that, she travels to New
York, where she attends classes at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center. There
Jennifer learns the current styles and techniques that she
can bring back and utilize
in her classroom. Not only does she take classes at the
Broadway Dance Center and other studios in New York, Jennifer also attends many dance
conventions and teacher
seminars to improve her teaching techniques.
In addition to all her dance experience and training, Jennifer has also had many
performance opportunities. She was one of several back-up dancer's for Martha
Reeves
(Singer of "Dance'n in The Streets) during the Pegasus Parade when Martha
Reeve's
was the Celebrity Mistress of Ceremonies. She performed five years in the
Louisville
Ballet's
"Nutcracker," and has performed in more than 35 musicals, dramas, and
comedies
at many
local theaters including Derby Dinner Playhouse, Stage One,
Music Theatre of
Louisville,
Center Stage, Bunbury Theatre, Clarksville Little
Theatre and the Bomhard.
Jennifer has
also done several commercials and print
ads (newspaper).
Jennifer attended the University of Louisville where she studied Elementary
Education
and Child Psychology. While she was there, she also took classes in theater and
voice.
Jennifer has been teaching dance and theater for over seven years. She taught
for Music
Theater of Louisville during their summer camps and their community outreach
program
at several local elementary schools. She has guest taught at several local
dance schools
and was the Director of the dance program at local children's sports and
recreation
facility for 2 years.
Jennifer is very excited to have opened her own dance studio. It has been a dream
since
she was a little girl! She hopes to be able to share her passion for dance and
performing
with
her students, so that they too, can know the joy that dance and the performing
arts
can bring. |
